How It All Started
Howdy! Welcome to Poor Farms Cattle. We are 2nd generation beef cattle farmers located in Howell County Missouri. We are primarily a Salers/Angus cow-calf operation, but also dabble in the purebred side of things with our Salers and Red Angus momma’s and bulls.
As parents, we wanted to feed our children the best possible meat that we could find. We started out small and started raising our own Cornish Cross chickens. In 2017 we decided to get back into raising beef cattle and purchased our first 2 bulls and 40 head of bred cows. After raising beef for ourselves and selling a few whole & half beefs to family and friends, we realized that sometimes people can’t afford or do not want to buy a whole or half a beef. They just need a pound of ground beef or a couple of steaks for a bar-b-que. In 2021, we started selling “freezer beef” or specialty cuts of beef to individuals.

As producers, Jason and I believe in order to get quality beef for our family and yours, we must focus on genetics and nutrition for our cattle. With the help of our Purina dealer and our veterinarian, we have found a combination that puts quality beef on your table and ours.
When we are not chasing cattle around, we are chasing our children. Our daughter, Madalyn just graduated from high school and will be going to college to study Chemistry. When our son Cooper isn’t helping out on the farm, he is active with his high school FFA chapter and trap shooting team. As parents we are excited to see the paths that God takes both of our kids on. We pray that someday He will bring them both back to the farm to raise their children and continue selling Poor Farms Cattle beef.
